In Kickboxing there are three main disciplines excluding
the fitness regime of Cardio Kickboxing, these are Full
Contact, Light continuous Contact and Semi Contact and
all competitors must wear the appropriate safety
equipment. Head Guard, Mouth Guard, Groin Guard,
Chest Guard (for women only), Shin Guard, Boots and
Gloves. One referee and two judges score the
Improved Reflexes and Co-ordination increases your
performance in all physical activities! Increased Strength
and Stamina boost your energy so you feel great all day

overall fitness!. Great Cardiovascular Work Out keeps
you in good shape physically!
Initially we recommend two classes per week, plus a
certain amount of practice time in between classes as the
perfect level of training. This allows the student time to
work on material between classes and become proficient
before new concepts are introduced.

At Kickboxing Ireland school , all student are grouped by
age and by rank. In this way, you will be in a class with
students at your age and skill level. In addition we will
also assign you a "buddy" so you can quickly learn about
the school from an existing student.
At AKAI school , children are taught that the martial arts
are not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend
oneself in problematic situations. Aggressive behaviour is
channeled into assertiveness to increase the child's self
esteem, increase self discipline and build character. Our
program also helps the shy child to develop self
confidence and become more assertive.

What about sparring?
All students interested in sparring are required to wear
the best protective equipment available on the market
and are strictly supervised. Consequently, the chance on
injury is very small. Sparring is just a very small part of

individual depending on the effort they put forth.
At Kickboxing Ireland
schools, students are very often
amazed by their own ability and accomplishment in as
little as six months.
This training will give you the confidence of knowing that
you can defend yourself in most situations. Your real
goal, however, should be to attain the rank of Black Belt
. This level of proficiency typically takes about eight
years. Once again, however, this will vary depending on
you level of effort and desire.
